Judaism’s mass revelation argument is indeed unique and sorely under-recognized by atheists, but then, most atheists I run into are ex-christian and I think they assume (and it is a fair assumption, given that this proof of G-d is uniquely Judaic) that there is no religion that claims to a mass G-d experience of thousands of people simultaneously.

I still think that there are good reasons to find the existence of G-d through pure reason rather than through witness testimony. One of them, I think, is that demonstrations of deductive reason can happen in someone’s own head, right now, which for some people, no matter how compelling the revelation at Sinai might logically be, will always be more powerful.

I really think they are, since they had bodies, had children, moved, in the case of Uranus “was the sky,” etc. These are all limitations that from an Aristotelian point of view make those gods contingent…
Of course, (from what I’ve read) many pagan practices are in some sense based around the idea that each of these minor gods are a reflection of one single unity or underlying force etc. I don’t know much about that, but it’s worth evaluation on an individual basis to find if lurking behind these many gods perhaps there is something like the one god.

On the contrary, it impresses people enough to change their lives and to live by 3,300 years of its teachings. For the logical atheist, it’s responsibility they deny, not a first cause.
